Foundry resins are mainly produced from urea-formaldehyde and phenol-formaldehyde resins. Air-hardening resins include alkaline phenolic resins and furan resins. Furan resins have different furfuryl alcohol contents depending on their application areas.
Cold box (gas-cured) resins are cured with carbon dioxide and provide long sand mixture life. Low carbon dioxide consumption offers the advantage of easy shake-out after casting.
Hot box resins are resins that cure at high temperatures together with a catalyst.
