Metallic Silicon

Metallic Silicon increases the castability of metals and is generally alloyed with aluminum. In cast iron, it supports a ferritic structure and contributes to strength properties. In steel production, it is preferred over ferrosilicon especially in alloys where carbon and aluminum are undesirable.
